Stopped in for a quick breakfast. Price and food were fine. Service was abysmal. It appeared that they were severely understaffed, with which I can empathize. However, there is no excuse for Pamela's demeanor. She showed no personality whatsoever- no pleasantries or friendly greeting at all. As a result her tip was commensurate with her personality-zero. I hate stiffing servers but I could not justify leaving her a dime. On a bright note, the cashier was extremely backed up but the young lady was very pleasant. If I had thought of it, I would've left her Pam's tip and gotten her name so I could specifically compliment her.

Wow, what a change. Previously, found this location to be slow service. .. very slow. Today, great service, great food. Surprised. We will be back after a UM game. M Go Blue.

Service was amazing and food was pretty good! It was a busy Sunday morning, but our waitress was still very nice and service was quick! We asked to substitute some items in the omelette and we got exactly what we asked for. Will definitely be back!

Sure it was Denny's, but I really don't have much to complain about. When you have a large family, this is the place to go. Large breakfasts for the kids for cheap. The coffee was good and I enjoyed my Hearty Platter. Great sausage, good toast, and a nice cheesy, gooey potato and vegetable mix on a hot platter. I was able to leave here feeding seven of us and didn't break the bank.

No seriously...don't ever go here! I have been to plenty of Denny's and generally I like the food. This location is the worst one I have ever been to. The food was under cooked, the service was slow, and everyone who works here is pretty unfriendly. If you don't like where you work or what you do, do something about it and go somewhere else. Don't take it out on people who are simply paying to have what should be a good decent meal.

  • Michael S.

Such a dichotomy here. The place is nice looking enough. The staff was friendly and efficient. I never had to wait more than normal for any aspect of service. The food was great looking. The omelet was fluffy, the hash browns nicely brown. But why, why why? Why was the food covered in extra grease/fat? I was in overload mode with the stuff. I know fat adds flavor, but i didn't think the stuff needed any more. Oh, the price was good, too.

Stopped by for a late dinner where there were two older people spreading mulch, which was not very appetizing. Our waitress was very nice but very inattentive. There were only 2 other tables in the entire place and she spent most of the time loudly chatting with the bald waiter. The food portions have been cut back a lot since the last time we were here. Will not be coming back for a long time. Hopefully they can shape up and get to at least a normal Denny's level of service.

this place has the worst service! I was there 10 minutes without a waitress coming to even ask for our drinks. walked out and NOT coming back!!

Denny's is Denny's in terms of the food. Right? What makes the real difference in a visit is the quality of the service. We were not disappointed in this way today. Cassandra S., our server provided great service even in the face of a very busy brunch period. While our visit was motivated by the freebie birthday grand slam... Something that matters when you have a sizable family of 5 hearty eaters... We still look for the proverbial pearl and expect a good experience. Dennys: I forgive you for running out of my grits... Only because the service from Cassandra made up for it!

Review update - I figured out the major problem with this place. It is the Manager, Camille. What an ignorant person to be running a restaurant. If she is on duty, do yourself a favor and just walk out. I had a problem that required her assistance - she kept the family, including 2 kids waiting 20 minutes while she was in the office. While I was trying to discuss the problem with her, she didn't want to hear it and wouldn't make eye contact, but just kept doing something else while I tried to talk to her. She didn't seem interested. Did I mention we waited 20 minutes for her for this? No apologies for keeping us waiting. It is a real shame that we will not be going back to this place because I really like Gwen (the other GREAT MANAGER),Alex, John and Theresa. The cook Mario is also very good. When the manager doesn't care and the servers are just wonderful there is a real problem. Franchise owners need this lady brought to their attention.

I really love this Dennys. The waiters and waitresses are all very polite. There have been times when the waiter to customer ratio was very small-- but they were always working so hard to stay on top of things, and I really admired that. Will always be a customer here.

  • Jay R.

Service was solid! It took longer than expected and they gave me creamer containers that I needed extra precaution to deal with, but all in all the food was good! It wasn't ready when I arrived but the food was very delicious! This was my first time here in like 15 years...I ordered the country fried steak and eggs plate for breakfast.

We were there for 40 minutes. It was not busy. I had to call the restaurant on my cell phone to get someone to come out and bring me a coffee refill..the waiter was rude. it was not busy, but the staff were all in the back fror most of the time we were there. we left - we never saw our food.

I'm waffling between 2 & 3 stars because while I do always enjoy myself here (mostly because it's in good company, but the waitstaff is always friendly), the kitchen has messed up my order on several occasions. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Fit Fare Omelette and received the Fit Slam (but was charged for the more expensive Fit Fare Omelette). So pay attention to what you're getting... I do like that there are different coffee options now.

I will never ever eat here again! Worst first experience ever, I had bugs in my menu, floaties in my drink (2 of us) and hair in my food I'm beyond disgusted with this place!

I have never had a worst experience with service. They all stare at you like they have no clue what is going on. Called in a take out order. They said 10 min. I got there at exactly 10 (work across the street) waited 30 extra. I'd rather go to a Coney Island.

Worst Denny's ever! Staff doesn't seem to know how to handle many guest at once. Took forever to get my food that ended up being cold. Didn't even get a thanks have a great day. Over all eve time I have been there it seems like the staff is miserable.

Denny's in general tend to be run down, grubby + famous for cranky staff. This one used to be like that. I haven't been to Denny's on Washtenaw since cira 2005. Yeah, this place left that strong of an impression. But let's not dwell on the past. Today I returned to Denny's on Washtenaw. I really wanted hash browns + they were in the right place at the right time. The staff was friendly + attentive - no empty glasses, no waiting forever to place my order, the food came to the table in a reasonable amount of time. The restaurant was clean, the food was the best I've ever had at a Denny's, and they got my mildly unusual order right without batting an eye or making a big deal about it. It was a great experience for anywhere I'll be back :)

This Denny's used to be my high school's hang out back in the days... I think this is why they implemented the two hour rule... not sure if it's still there... I default at Denny's is the Grand Slam and you can get it whenever you want... they are open 24x7, what more can you ask for??? There are those days, when you want to have breakfast for dinner... Service is alright... it all depends on who you get, the building itself hasn't changed much in the last 20 years... same layout... it's like the time froze... they have new menus, more options to select from. Overall, the food is alright (Bob Evan's is higher on my list)... nice place to get a bite to eat whenever you want. I'll rate their coffee better than Bob Evans though.

Their menu has recently gotten a facelift and I'm pleasantly surprised by the breadth of options for late nigh munchies. Staff are nice and attentive. Yes, you can study here all night. The only drawbacks: dirty bathrooms and wireless only works in the way far back of the restuarant but if you need to plug in there is only an outlet at the first two tables on the right (at the front of the resturant). So you have to choose, wireless or power. Last time I was here Marie got a chocolate peppermint milkshake that was great (but how could anything with peppermint not be great?). We both got the create your own grandslam - I had cranberry orange pancakes, eggs, grits and sausage. The grits are actually really good - not like restaurant grits typically are. (and they give you a huge bowl). Marie got pancakes with hasbrowns, eggs, and gingerbread french toast. All of her stuff was really good too. For those of you with hankering to something spicey, they brought out (literally) five bottles of different types of hot sauce when Marie asked for some for her potatos.

it's Denny's, a chain...hmm great because it's 24 hours. Waitress helped our party move tables around to accommodate 10 of us. Food took a little longer than I wanted but it was 6 am and from what I could see, one cook. They bill by seat, meaning they do bill everyone individually...so it was nice that the bill was pre-divided. Food: 5..but a 10 when you're drunk and it's 6 am haha Decor: 4 Service: 5.5 *ratings out of 10

This is the best Denny's I have ever been to. Yes, it is classic Denny's food, so don't expect it to be fine-dining. But damn, the service here is amazing. We were here late at night (1am) doing homework, and the owner/manager came around and greeted us and made sure our food was ok and that we had everything we needed. Can you believe an owner/manager going around that late at night and making sure the customers are happy? And our waitress didn't stop smiling once. She was as sweet as ever. The food came quick and like I said, tasted good for what it was. The only complaint I have is there are not enough outlet plugs to plug our laptops in. But I'd definitely come back. Awesome Denny's!

Let me explain this 3-star review fairly: PROS: 1 star = open late, actually 24 hours! My mother and I are night owls, and its' pretty hard for us to find a place for a sit down dinner at 11pm that doesn't involve the word 'poppers' or 'pub'. 1 star= our server, Crystal was sweet, fast and got our order out in a timely manner. That's all we ask for, and she delivered great service. 1 star= this is one of the few places where groups of students can go and spread out, eat, hang out and study. I did it in high school-- and I'm so happy to see kids are still keeping that tradition alive! Also, a big thanks to the staff at Denny's for being supportive and cool about it! I even think this Denny's has wi-fi :D CONS: Minus 1 star= the menus and certain surfaces in this Denny's have seen better, and cleaner days. That's kind of gross... but it is a 24 hour chain diner, you just have to deal. Minus 1 star= can you really still smoke in here?! NASTY. I don't care if its still in the old 'smoking side' of the restaurant... times have changed. Its kind of archaic in practice.

Maybe I caught them on a bad night. Slow service (30 minutes to get the wrong food), ignored by our server Deanna G., one of the items we ordered arrived as we were leaving. No apologies, but the server blamed it only having one cook. Tried to contact manager, district manager, no replies. I will avoid this Denny's from now on.

I think we arrived on a bad day. The wait staff were in a rather sour mood and it seemed a push for them to be courteous. Not a good start for a birthday. The food however was hot, presented well, and tasted good.

they have an awesome 2, 4, 6 or 8 dollar menu now...including aycep, all you can eat pancakes, for $4, FOUR dollars. I didn't order the aycep, but I know a good deal when I see one.

If you're looking for a place to study that closes after midnight in Ann Arbor, you have two choices that I know of: the Starbucks in Arborland, and this Denny's. I wouldn't even bother with the Starbucks. The service at Denny's is friendly, the food is cheap and hearty, the coffee is decent, there is plenty of space, and they don't seem to mind when you stay for hours. The clientele is less stuffy here too, I find, which makes for a more pleasant study environment.

  • Scott H.

I just cant let it stand. Denny's is just not in any way shape or form a good place to eat. The food is the same as any other Denny's: acceptable but not what one would call great. 24 hour availability earns it two stars, but honestly its nothing to write home about.

  • Cherice J.

At around 2:15 am when the crowd is leaving the club, the next destination is this Denny's on Washtenaw. I can't even count how many times I have came up here with a buzz or two. The funny thing is the staff is super used to it, so they have developed patience for the drunkards and are actually pretty nice. This place gets packed too...and its always a convention outside with people in the parking lot "parking lot pimping". Now...the food is just mediocre. I definitely wouldn't plan a Easter Sunday meal here. BUT the food will satisfy you, especially their skillets.

This restaurant is as bad as it gets, at least during the late night hours. You'll wait easily over an hour to get your cheeseburger, and the patrons are loud and obnoxious. Don't waste your time.

Now this is a great Denny's. Liz is the best waitress ever. Her husband makes a living selling comic books and video games out of a local business. What a lucky lucky man. Anyways, yeah, this Denny's rules.
